BEACH Karangbolong

Karangbolong beach is a sandy beach that is wide enough lye, which is bounded by hills composed by clastic sedimentary rocks, volcanic origin. Gray sand-sized smooth rocks derived from the rough. A wash of the waves that hit the wall of hills produce enough energy to erode, transport and precipitate the return of rock grains. High degrees of weathering in this region to accelerate the abrasion process. Local, lava breccia outcrops are located near the coast experienced erosion, resulting in the formation of a unique abrasion.

Karangbolong coast has the potential to form a strong feedback, so it is a dangerous area for swimming. Other activities that tourists can do is fishing, in which some reef fish species is relatively abundant on this beach

In coastal areas there are also caves Karangbolong, located on the east side. A long passageway formed in the layer of lava breccia terkekarkan. Cave Karangbolong a length of 30 m, width 10 m and a height of about 5 m. Formation breccias known as Gabon is Oligo-Miocene age or between 30-15 million years ago, revealed together with the insertion sandstone and clay.

Cave formation is influenced by peruntuhan Karangbolong that occurred along the boundary area between the breccia with pasri stone or clay stone. Peruntuhan hole will be even greater because the layer of rock that hangs on the roof of the hole is always collapsed under the weight. The process is also triggered by the burly-burly that is, whose presence weakens the connective power between components of rocks. The process of cave formation is observed both in the east end and south Goa Karangbolong, where on a small scale peruntuhan rocks occur along the boundary of different layers. Because instead of limestone caves, then in Goa Karangbolong found no ornaments.
